The Writers' Intensive
The Writers' Intensive continues as part of the Fireworks Festival with three writing workshops to be held on three successive Saturdays: Nov. 11 / 18 / 25 from 9:00 - 12:00 in the lobby of the Alumnae Theatre.
This year our workshop leader will be Donna-Michelle St. Bernard who is a critically acclaimed emcee, playwright and agitator. Her works include Sound of the Beast, They Say He Fell, Salome's Clothes, Gas Girls and A Man A Fish. She is artistic director at New Harlem Productions, Coordinator of the ADHOC Assembly and a lead vocalist with Ergo Sum, a Toronto based folk/funk/hiphop trio. Upcoming production will be Cake at Theatre Passe Muraille backspace. Donna-Marie has also been nominated as one of the four finalists for the Siminovitch Prize for Playwriting for 2017.
Her three-part workshop will focus on the creation/refinement of stories for the stage, with emphasis on the three greatest obstacles to playwriting:
- Starting Is Hard
- Stuck in the Middle
- Endings Are Hard
Cost is $75.00 for Alumnae Members; $100.00 for non-members. Members have priority registration. Non-members join waiting list at firstname.lastname@example.org. To register click here
