Impressionism

Impressionism

BY MICHAEL JACOBS

Produced by Mary Barnes Amoroso, Arlene Stanley and Kristine Greenaway
Directed by Nicole Arends

April 12 - April 27, 2019  on the Mainstage

Impressionism
Surrounded by impressionist paintings, colleagues Katharine, gallery owner, and Thomas, photojournalist, revisit painful memories. As they banter and spar, they come to realize that if they can step away from the current canvas of their lives, their futures just might hold more depth than the past.

This romantic comedy blends pathos, intellect, and wit, and debuted on Broadway with Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons.

Impressionism introduces some lesser-known artists
April 12-27, 2019,  Alumnae Theatre Company presents Michael Jacobs’ play Impressionism, which takes place in an art gallery.  Audience members are invited onstage before the show begins, to walk around Teodoro Dragonieri’s set and Suzanne Courtney’s replicas of Impressionist artworks.

Alumnae member Diane Forrest, a writer and editor, has researched some lesser-known women artists of the Impressionist period – here are her blog posts:
