Creative Team Biographies

ANGUS BARLOW, Sound Designer
A freelance musician/engineer/sound designer from Toronto, Angus has been working with the Alumnae Theatre for about seven years. Sound designs include: Lettice and Lovage, Summer & Smoke, A Lie Of The Mind, Perfect Pie, Wit, Closer, and most recently A Delicate Balance.

VIVIEN FEIRSON, Props
Twenty-four years ago, Vivien's first job with Alumnae Theatre was props for Tom & Viv. She went on (in descending order!) to produce, SM, ASM, run lights & sound, and now here she is, back again finding props. All I can say after all these years is that whatever your job at Alumnae, you still have to take out the garbage. So to cast & crew, many of whom are younger than I've been around this theatre, get out there & break a leg.

DANIELLE GUSLITS, Stage Manager
Danielle is thrilled to be back stage managing at Alumnae Theatre. In the past couple of years she has been busy getting married, dragonboating, running marathons, studying, and now working as a deaf-blind intervenor. The calls of the booth have brought her back to the Alumnae, and it's great to be back. Break a leg everyone!

PAUL HARDY, Director
For Alumnae Theatre Company, Paul Hardy has previously directed Judith Thompson's Perfect Pie and Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, as well as designing lighting for about a dozen productions, most recently last seasons A Delicate Balance. He also served as lighting designer for The Stranger (Praxis Theatre), [the sadly departed] Alchemy Theatre's All's Well and A Midsummer Night's Dream, Lovesick Productions' Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave, and many others. Also an actor, Paul's leading roles include Underneath (Praxis Theatre), As You Like It (Canopy Theatre), For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again and She Stoops to Conquer (Alumnae Theatre), Step Up (Stagekids), and Macbeth (Classical Theatre Project).

DANIEL MACIVOR, Playwright
Born in Sydney, N.S., in 1962, MacIvor declared in Grade 5 that he wanted to be a psychiatrist when he grew up. Later, he switched his career choice to architect. Now I feel like I've melded those two things with theatre. His theatrical career began in Toronto in the 1980's, founding the groundbreaking company da da kamera, and co-creating with director Daniel Brooks such works as House, Monster, Here Lies Henry and In On It.
Also an actor, MacIvor performed in many of his own plays, as well as on TV (CBC's cult hit Twitch City with Don McKellar) and film (Jeremy Podeswa's The Five Senses).
Among his many awards, he has earned a Genie Award for his screenplay adaptation of Marion Bridge (2004), the Governor General's Award for Drama in 2006, and the prestigious Siminovitch Prize in Theatre (2008). This September, Bruce McDonald's rock'n'roll film Trigger, for which MacIvor wrote the screenplay, premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival.

SCOTT PENNER, Costume Designer
Scott's recent designs include King Lear, Arcadia (Hart House Theatre); West Side Story, Footloose (Randolph Young Company); Stellaluna (Kids Entertainment); Twelfth Night (The Classical Theatre Project); The Killing Game, Top Girls, Doctor Faustus (Randolph Academy); The Rocky Horror Show, Lucky Stiff, A Musical Called Robin Hood, Little Shop of Horrors (Toronto Youth Theatre); Stranger, Underneath (Praxis Theatre); Dom Juan (Theatre Glendon). Training: BFA York University, Royal Court Theatre Young Writers Programme 2005. www.scottpennerdesign.com

ED ROSING, Set & Lighting Designer
Ed received his BA in Theatre/English at Western Reserve University in Cleveland and then went to Yale Drama School. Grateful thanks to Paul Hardy for giving him the opportunity to go so far out of the box in this awesome production.
